Ms. Walker's Class
About Ms. Walker
Howdy first grade parents! I am so excited to be here at Bridge Point this year! I am originally from Alexandria, Virginia and grew up right outside of Washington, D.C.. A fun fact about me is that I could walk to George Washington's Mount Vernon from my childhood home. I graduated from Radford University in 2013, a small but wonderful school! It's near Virginia Tech so I still got to attend football games. In 2014 I moved to Katy, Texas after meeting that school district at a teaching fair. I taught kindergarten for 2 years before deciding to move back home to be closer to my family. I taught kindergarten in Fairfax County, Virginia for the next two years. After being home for two years I realized how much I missed living in Texas and decided to come back! I fell in love with Austin after visiting a few times while living in Katy and knew this is where I wanted to be!
I brought my two dogs with me to Austin, Finley (a 5-year-old husky mix) and Baylor (a 2-year-old pitbull mix). They were both adopted and I consider them my babies! I got Baylor while I lived in Katy, just one week before moving back to Virginia. I thought he should have a Texas name since he was a Texas puppy. I never thought I would be back here in Texas, so now everyone thinks I went to Baylor when I tell them what his name is.
I have a two-year-old niece, Teagan, who I love to FaceTime with. She is already learning so much and loves to show me what she knows. She can name and identify all the letters of the alphabet and count to 10 so far. Now she's working on learning her shapes! She's a redhead and every bit of a feisty little one! In September my sister welcomed another little one, my nephew Beau. Those two are the joys of my life and I miss them every day!
I love being a Bridgepoint bobcat and looking forward to a great year!
